In order to celebrate the ‘World Kidney Day’ on the 9th of March 2017 – a day celebrated throughout the world, Apollo Hospitals Dhaka arranged a variety of activities to reach out to the general people through different awareness programs on different days to raise awareness of the importance of our kidneys to our overall health and to reduce the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide. The theme of this year was ‘Kidney Disease and Obesity”. Bearing this day in mind, an awareness program was carried out in collaboration with the Environmental and Social Club of East West University at the university campus. In this event
Ms. Tamanna Chowdhury Principal Dietician of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka discussed about Kidney Diseases and Obesity. Dr. Arif Mahmud, Senior General Manager, Medical Services and Akhter Jamil Ahmed, Deputy General Manager, Business Development of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka also shared their perspective. SSM Sadrul Huda, Associate Professor and Moderator of Environmental and Social Club of East West University was also present in the event along with students of the university. Students of the university had their Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, Height and Weight checked and advised upon the results by the dietician of the hospital.
To create awareness among the mass Apollo Hospitals Dhaka in collaboration with Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Limited arranged two more awareness sessions on the 9th of March 2017. A rally was organized by Apollo Hospitals Dhaka in the Gulshan Joggers Club Park after which the Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, Height and Weight of the 250 participants of the rally were measured free of charge. The participants were also provided with a healthy breakfast and Dr. Md. Nabiul Hassan (Rana), Coordinator & Senior Consultant-Nephrology and Ms. Tamanna Chowdhury, Principal Dietician of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka advised on how to prevent kidney diseases. The Chief guest of the event was Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Hon’ble Member of Parliament of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Also present in the event were Nurul Mujid Mohammad Humayan, Hon’ble Member of Parliament of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh (Narshingdi – 4) A.K.M Shahidul Islam, President Joggers Club, Nasimul Haque Nasim, Secretary, Gulshan Joggers Club, Md. Nur Ali, Advisor, Gulshan Joggers Club and Delowar Hossain Dulal, VP, Gulshan Society. In the afternoon another awareness session with patients with kidney diseases was organized in which the Nephrologists, Urologists and Dietician of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka discussed on kidney disease management and prevention. In both programs Md. Enayet Ullah Khan, Director, Business Development, Dr. Arif Mahmud, Senior General Manager, Medical Services, the senior management and doctors of the hospital were present.
