To celebrate the ‘World Diabetes Day’ – a day celebrated throughout the world, Apollo Hospitals Dhaka in collaboration with Sanofi arranged a variety of activities to reach out to the community and spread awareness about diabetes. During the early hours of the 12th of November 2016 a free health check session was carried out in Gulshan Youth Club in which the blood sugar and blood pressure of interested individuals were checked and advised by a nutritionist of the hospital. More than 140 individuals availed this service and also had various queries answered by the nutritionist. On the following day, the 13th of November a free health check was carried out in the Old Rehabilitation Centre in Gazipur in which more than 100 senior citizens had their blood sugar and blood pressure checked and the Principal dietician of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka advised them on how to maintain a proper diet to remain healthy.
On World Diabetes Day, the 14th of November, a walkathon was arranged by Apollo Hospitals Dhaka in which more 100 individuals rallied in Bashundhara R/A. Free diabetes screening was also arranged in the premises of the hospitals for interested individuals. Considering the theme of this year of World Diabetes Day, ‘Eyes on Diabetes’ a special health awareness session was also arranged in the auditorium of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka in the afternoon where the consultants of endocrinology and ophthalmology and a nutritionist discussed about the management of diabetes and its impact on the eyes. More than 100 individuals participated in this interactive discussion.
