Apollo Hospitals Dhaka organized a CME yesterday on application of PET/CT in management of cancer patients. Keynote speakers were Prof. Henry Hee-Seung Bom, Chairman, Asian Regional Cooperative Council for Nuclear Medicine (ARCCNM) and Professor Hiroshi Matsuda, Director General, Integrative Brain Imaging Center, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry, Tokyo, Japan. They presented two papers on PET/CT. Prof. Henry Bom presented a paper on titled “PET/CT in Medical Management” and discussed management of different cancers like lung cancer, colorectal cancer, etc. Professor Matsuda spoke on applications of PET/CT in Neurology and Psychiatry. He stressed upon the importance of PET in diagnosis of different diseases particularly Alzheimer’s disease which is a chronic neuro-degenerative disease that usually starts slowly and gets worse over time.
The CME was attended by consultants, specialists, registrars and other medical professionals including the management. It was also attended by senior officials of the Society of Nuclear Medicine Bangladesh and several senior physicians of National Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (NINMAS), BSMMU. It may be mentioned here that Apollo Hospitals Dhaka is going to start PET/CT imaging soon.
