March 8, World Kidney Day 2018 – a day celebrated throughout the world. This year World Kidney Day and the International Women’s Day are commemorated on the same day, offering us the opportunity to reflect on the importance of women’s health and specifically their kidney’s health. The theme of World Kidney Day 2018 is “Kidneys & Women’s Health: Include, Value, Empower”. In this regards Apollo Hospitals Dhaka and Healthcare Pharmaceuticals ltd. has jointly organized few activities. In the morning a Rally and a Mini Marathon took place at Bashundhara R/A to aware the general people in participation 200 people that includes students from North South University along with Mr. Abdus Salam Bhuiya, Director – Human Resource, Dr. Arif Mahmood, Head of Medical Services, Dr. Md. Nabiul Hassan (Rana), Senior Consultant & Coordinator – Nephrology, Dr. Fahmida Begum, Consultant – Nephrology, other consultants, senior management and nurses from Apollo Hospitals Dhaka. A seminar was organized at Uttara ladies Club with their members where Dr. Fahmida Begum, Consultant – Nephrology presented her speech to aware them about kidney diseases in women. Observing International Women’s Day, a workshop was arranged at the auditorium of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka for the female staffs where Professor Hajera Mahtab, Specialist-Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrine, Professor Emeritus and Chief Consultant Medicine of BIHS General Hospital, Gulshan Swasthoseba Kendra and Halida Hanum Akhter, Chief of Party NHSDP, Country Representative of Pathfinder International, Bangladesh was present as honorable guests. Another seminar took place at the Westine Dhaka where Dr. Nasrin Zulfiqar Consultant-Obstetric & Gynecology and Ms. Tamanna Chowdhury Principal Dietician talked on women’s health and nutrition and Dr. Arif Mahmood, Head of Medical Services of Apollo hospitals was also present in the event.
